Frequently Asked Questions! đź’

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is a marathon where you build something with tech by working with people around the globe. It isn’t about hacking into a system, it is about hacking something together and learning a great deal in the process.

What is an Online Hackathon?

Online Hackathons are held remotely unlike a traditional in-person, rest all are same for both.

Is there a maximum team size?

Yes! Keep your teams to a maximum of 4 people.

Is there anything else we’ll be doing other than hacking?

We’ll have some workshops, fun games and plenty of other fun activities online, to make sure you have a good time.

Is there a Code of Conduct?

Yes, we will be following the Autumn Hacks Code of Conduct!

When is the last date to register?

You can register for Autumn Hacks all the way till Oct 30th. However, we encourage you to register earlier to participate in workshops, mini-events and other activities to gain more score for your team!

How do I work with my team?

One of the biggest challenges of an online hackathon is internal communication with your team. We have a Discord Server where one can find all the everyone from organizers to participants,  We strongly suggest that you make a group chat with your team members, also maintaining the code with Git is a high necessity while working with multiple people.

How long will it be for?

This is a three day event from October 30th to November 1st.

What timezone / language are you using?

We’re currently an India based event, using IST and communicating in English. However, we want Autumn Hacks to be open and accessible for other timezones as well if you’d like us to host Autumn Hacks for your region in the future, reach out to us at hey@autumnhacks.online

How will judging work?

We’ll be reviewing submissions on our Devpost!

Do I need to be a student?

Absolutely not! The team behind Autumn Hacks is mostly made up of students, however anyone age 13 and above can give it a go!

What if I don’t have a team/idea?

Not to worry, most people don’t! We’ll have team formation and ideation events geared towards helping you find people to work with.

What if my project is unfinished or I don’t want to present?

Unfinished or unimpressive (so you think) projects should be presented anyway! Presenting your hack gives you a chance to be proud of what you’ve done, and a constructive perspective of where you should be headed next.

Can I start working on my Hack before the event?

No. In the interest of fairness, students should not be working on their projects before Autumn Hacks begins and we do not allow participants to work on pre-existing projects. However, you can familiarize yourself with all the tools and technologies you intend to use beforehand!

Where can I find updates?

We have an active Discord for communication, along with a shared blog for sharing your project updates and a forum where you can ask for help.

What if I haven’t been to a Hackathon before?

Don’t be intimidated, we're so glad to host the first ever hackathon you’re attending, while it’s helpful to have some programming or technical experience, but it’s not a requirement. We’ll have talks, mentors and workshops to help you with your project.
